The Birtley TF90 is the standard duty timber frame lintel offered by Birtley. Used in timber frame dwellings, the TF50 is suitable for timber construction projects and is capable of supporting external brickwork over any openings.

Materials

Expertly crafted with mild S275JR steel, the TF lintel proves to be a versatile addition to any timber frame dwelling. Finished with a post-fabrication hot-dip galvanisation, this lintel receives a finish 50% thicker than offered by alternative manufacturers, ensuring durability and energy efficiency. Thermal performance is further improved due to pre-installed insulation, namely expanded polystyrene.

Installation and usage

The Birtley TF comes with restraining clips for installation, which need to overlap the lintel by 12mm and be held in place by 50mm long, 3.3 diameter galv nails into the timber frame. In general, the lintel must be laid fully on a bed of bricklaying mortar leaving an end bearing of 150mm minimum for optimal functionality.
