Fire Barrier Insulation

Fire barriers are now a standard requirement by NHBC.
Cavity barriers are now required at the edges and junctions of cavities in internal and external walls, including at the junction between a compartment wall and roof, and must be extended into any eaves. These barriers are designed to prevent the passage of fire and smoke through hidden voids, such as wall cavities, which can act as a conduit for fire to spread unchecked.

The NHBC standards emphasise the use of fire-resistant materials, such as fire barriers, which are crucial in slowing down the spread of fire. These materials help to compartmentalise the fire, creating resistance against its progression and providing valuable time for evacuation and emergency response.

In addition to improving safety, the installation of cavity barriers is vital to ensure compliance with building regulations and the overall structural integrity of a property. Proper installation, maintenance, and regular inspection of these barriers can make a significant difference in the event of a fire.

When designing or constructing buildings, always ensure that cavity barriers are placed correctly and follow the most up-to-date NHBC standards. Not only does this meet legal requirements, but it also offers critical protection for both occupants and property.
