Solid Dense Concrete Blocks | 100mm 7.3N

Solid Dense 100 mm 7.3 N Concrete Blocks deliver the structural performance for demanding projects. Being fully solid, they are heavier and more robust than cellular, aircrete, or medium dense blocks, making them ideal for walls where high load bearing capacity are required. Used in cavity or solid wall constructions, beam‑and‑block flooring infills, boundary walls, and any project that requires high compressive strength

Produced from cement, sand, and crushed stone, these blocks offer a dense profile that provides excellent sound insulation and fire resistance. Their rough textured face makes it easier to plaster or render.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • High Strength: With a compressive strength of 7.3 N/mm², this block is designed for heavy duty applications, ensuring long lasting structural integrity.
  • Acoustic Performance: The high density nature of this block helps significantly reduce noise, making it a great choice for both residential and commercial projects where sound insulation is important.
  • Versatile Applications: Suitable for both internal and external walls, as well as above and below ground use, including in block and beam flooring systems and foundation walls.
  • Fire and Water Resistant: Offers excellent fire resistance, providing added safety in your building. It also features low water absorption, making it a reliable option for areas exposed to moisture.
  • Ease of Use: Its standard finish and solid construction make it easy to handle, cut, and lay, speeding up installation and improving overall efficiency.
  • Long-Lasting Performance: The block’s strength, durability, and resistance to fire and moisture ensure reliable performance over the long term, even in challenging conditions.

Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 440mm (Length) x 215mm (Height) x 100mm (Width)
  • Compressive Strength: 7.3 N/mm²
  • Weight: 20 kg per block
  • Dry Density: ~1850—2000 kg/m3
  • Thermal conductivity: 1.13 W/m·K
  • Acoustic Performance: around 48db Rw when plastered.
  • Fire Resistance: non load bearing 2 hours | load bearing 4 hours
  • Water Absorption: Low absorption for moisture-resistant performance

Which mortar is best for 7.3N dense blocks?

Above the DPC (external leaf above ground & internal walls):
A Class M4 masonry mortar is recommended. This provides around 4 N/mm² compressive strength—sufficient for most above-DPC blockwork without over-rigid joints

Below the DPC
A Class M6 mortar is recommended for aggregate blocks in soils at risk of saturation or freeze–thaw exposure.

Do walls built with these blocks require separate boarding before finishing?

No, once laid, the block face provides a suitable mechanical key for plaster, render or direct adhesion of plasterboard without additional boarding.

What suction characteristics do the blocks exhibit for rendering?

They show moderate suction, offering a reliable key for renders without excessive moisture draw-off that can cause cracking.

What fixings work best for shelving or brackets?

Standard nylon or fibre wall plugs used with light-duty screws will suffice for most shelving. For heavier loads, opt for mechanical or chemical anchors like Fischer’s SX/FU series, for example.

What’s the most efficient way to cut these blocks on site?

For fast, straight cuts use a manual block splitter; for precision work, a circular saw with a diamond-tipped blade; or for occasional or rough cuts, score and split with a hammer and bolster.
