About Whitestar cement

Whitestar produce general purpose Portland cement used across a wide range of building and construction projects. Portland cement is one of the most commonly used binders in construction and forms the base ingredient for many mortar and concrete mixes used in masonry and structural work.

Cement is typically combined with aggregates such as sand or gravel and water to create mortar or concrete depending on the intended application. Because of its versatility, general purpose cement is widely used across residential construction, landscaping and repair work.

Typical applications

General purpose cement is used in many different construction tasks including:

  • bricklaying mortar
  • blockwork mortar
  • concrete mixes for small foundations
  • general building repairs
  • landscaping and hardstanding work

Cement forms the binding component within these mixes, helping aggregates combine into a durable construction material once cured.

Technical considerations

When using Portland cement within construction mixes, several factors are commonly considered:

  • mix proportions between cement, aggregates and water
  • curing time and environmental conditions
  • compatibility with the chosen aggregates
  • intended structural or masonry application
  • handling and storage conditions prior to use
Cement type General use Typical application
