Materials

Constructed with S275JR steel, the EV100 lintel remains light in weight and easy to use, still providing strong reinforcement thanks to its design. The EV100 lintel, post-fabrication, undergoes a hot-dip galvanisation process to be finished with a thicker coating of zinc, leaving no surface with inferior paint or rust protection.

Installation and usage

The Birtley EV100 was designed with ease of use and handling in mind. Regardless of the robustness of S275JR steel, it remains light in weight and is prepared to support standard duty loads. This lintel must be installed on single layer walls, and on a bed of bricklaying mortar with an end bearing of 150mm each side. 

Energy efficiency and sustainability

Concrete lintels are a typical alternative for dealing with single skin brick work. However, given the service life of the EV100 and the material its made from, environmentally its the better choice.

Fire performance

Using the BS 476:Part 20: 1987 standards, this lintel achieves a 60 minute fire rating when finished with two coats of plaster, compliant with current standards and building codes.
