Heavy Duty Weed Membrane 2.25m x 25m (90gsm)
Geosynthetics 2 in 1 is a 90gsm heavy duty weed membrane designed for driveways, gravel areas, block paving and landscaping projects where long-term ground stability is required. It combines effective weed suppression with geotextile separation in a single robust layer.
This non-woven, thermally bonded weed control fabric prevents soil and aggregate from intermixing, reducing rutting, improving load distribution and limiting the loss of sub-base material. At the same time, it allows water, air and nutrients to pass through, maintaining natural drainage and soil health.
Installed beneath decorative gravel, mulch or paving, this weed membrane blocks light penetration to restrict weed growth. It is a suppressant rather than a weed killer and should be used alongside appropriate weed treatment where required.
Why Choose a 90gsm Heavy Duty Weed Membrane?
- Stronger and more durable than lightweight garden membranes
- Suitable for driveways and higher traffic areas
- Improves long-term sub-base stability
- Reduces future maintenance and surface movement
- Provides separation and filtration in one layer

What GSM weed membrane do I need for a driveway?
For driveways and higher traffic areas, a heavier grade membrane is recommended. Lightweight 50gsm garden fabrics are suitable for flower beds, but a 90gsm heavy duty weed membrane provides better puncture resistance, improved separation of sub-base materials and longer service life under gravel or paving.
Is 90gsm weed membrane heavy duty?
Yes. A 90gsm weed membrane is considered heavy duty for landscaping and driveway applications. It offers significantly greater strength and durability than thin garden-grade fabrics, making it suitable for gravel driveways, block paving and aggregate separation.
What is the difference between weed membrane and geotextile fabric?
A weed membrane is designed to suppress weed growth by blocking light while allowing water to drain through. A geotextile fabric acts as a separation and stabilisation layer between soil and aggregate. This product combines both functions, providing weed control and ground separation in a single layer.
