ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier

The ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier is a fully tested IFC certificated fire barrier providing a fire and thermal break underneath the shingles of a roof. An integral protective metal mesh protects the product and roof felt from damage during installation. The ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier has been rigorously tested to meet or exceed the performance requirements laid out in UK and Irish Building Regulations, helping to ensure safer homes.

Key Facts:

  • Pack of 5
  • Up to 120 minutes fire integrity, exceeding performance requirements
  • Third party certificated by IFC
  • Provides fire stopping between roof tiles and roof membrane
  • Complies with NHBC 2017 7.2.16
  • Quickly and easily installed as the tile battens are fitted
  • Manufactured from rockfibre mineral wool insulation
  • WTBR1250/200/50
  • 1250mm Length x 200mm Width x 50mm Thickness

Application:

The ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier is designed to provide a fire, thermal and acoustic break at the party wall between the roof tiles and roof membrane. It can be used in conjunction with the ARC Party Wall System to create a complete fire break at the separating wall between two dwellings. The person installing the Wired Tile Batten Barrier should first familiarise themselves with the datasheet, ensuring the correct product is being fitted into the cavity.

All performance claims made are evidenced in the IFC certification IFCC 1962.

Test reports, third party certification and MSDS available on request.

Installation instructions

The ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier is supplied in 1250mm lengths and are supplied baled to minimise waste packaging and offer easy handling on site Installation is carried out as the tile battens are fixed, after the roof covering has been fitted.

» Position the ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier at the party wall line above the roof covering and before the tile battens are fitted.

» Use a knife to cut through the insulation of the ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier in line with the leading (top) edge of the tile batten. You should not cut through the wire mesh, and care must be taken to not damage the roof covering underneath.

» Work the tile batten into the cut in the insulation. The lower edge of the tile batten should be covered by insulation as shown. This ensures that the gap between the batten and underside of the roof tile, once fitted, are filled.

» Before moving on, check the insulation has recovered to a height that will fill to the back of the roof tile when fitted. Where necessary, work the material so that no gaps will remain once the tiles have been fitted.

» Care should be taken when handling the product to ensure that the mineral wool isn’t damaged.

Is the Wired Tile Batten Barrier fire rated?

Wired Tile Batten Barrier has been fire tested in accordance with the principles given in EN1366-4, achieving 120 minutes fire integrity and 120 minutes insulation within a masonry construction. Real world performance may be affected by the fire performance of supporting and abutting elements, for example the roof structure and membrane.

Do I take it out of the coloured sleeve?

The polythene sleeve is there to provide product identification and protection from the elements and should therefore be left in place. It does not add to the performance of the product so can be safely cut into, and the product can still be used should the polythene be damaged.

How does the ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier work with deeply ridged tiles?

Rock mineral wool is a flexible material and will fill most ridges. In extreme cases due to the natural properties of the material this may not happen. Any such gaps can be filled with cuts of non-combustible rockfibre mineral wool.

Does the ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier compress?

Yes, ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier will compress underneath the roof tile.
